I finally braved the lines at Dominique Ansel Bakery for the Cronut! What’s a Cronut? It’s a hybrid of a croissant and a doughnut that has a light pastry cream with their flavor of the month, invented by chef Dominique Ansel . The one I got was coconut. It was yummy! The texture is intriguingly crispy and moist with a bounce (the magic of the flaky layers!). You have to eat this as soon as possible or it begins to feel heavier and oily if eaten hours later. If you don’t want to stand in line, take your chance by going at 10am. You’re likely going to get one from their last batch that day!
