Happy 2020

Happy New Year 2020! That means it’s time for osechi again. This year, we ordered this cute little 3 tier box online. And just by happenstance, it was from a restaurant in Kyoto (美先|Misen) we had recently visited randomly for lunch that we really enjoyed. The osechi contained classic Japanese and a bit of French and Italian influences that paired well. Eating all sorts of good luck, fortune, health, happiness, and other well-wishes. Along with this, we always have the ozoni by mom which has mochi, taro, konyaku, fish cakes, mizuna, lots of katsuobushi, and no miso or other proteins. What’s in your family’s ozoni?
