While I’ve been settling into Miami life, on the other side of the globe in Gion, Kyoto, Tamayu-san had the privilege of celebrating Maiko-san, Mariko’s graduation to become a Geiko-san (aka Geisha-san as called in other regions of Japan). Participating in a hair-cutting ritual in this process and getting to see a very special dance called Kurokami that’s only performed during this time.

私がマイアミライフを満喫している間、地球の向こう側、京都の祇園では、タマユさんはとても特別なお祝いに参加してました。槇里子ちゃんの舞妓さんから芸妓さんになる日です。断髪式の儀式にも参加して、黒髪の舞も観てこれよりどっぷりジャパンカルチャーに浸かれないくらい日本にいました。槇里子ちゃん、おめでとう！もう素敵な芸妓さんですね。
