Happy New Year! This was the first sunrise, and it was perfect! For the past several years, we’ve been spending the holidays in Japan, but this year, we are welcoming the New Year in Miami. You forget that it’s the middle of winter here, and spending Christmas and New Year’s in warm weather feels surreal. I tried to keep the spirit of “Oshogatsu” by making an interpretation of osechi with local ingredients (and a few items brought from Japan). Wishing everyone a happy 2024.

明けましておめでとうございます。マイアミからの素敵な初日の出です。この数年間は年末年始は日本で過ごしていたけど久しぶりにアメリカでのお正月。冬なのに気候の良い所なので少し不思議なクリスマスとお正月。でもせっかくお正月なのでここで手に入る材料でヘンテコなお節とお雑煮を作ってみました。新年の行事をしないとなんだか一年が始まらない気がしませんか？2024年良い年になりますように！
